Environmental Commission

About Us:

The Environmental Commission consists of seven (7) members:  One member of the Planning Board and six (6) other citizens of the Borough of West Long Branch.  The members of the Environmental Commission are appointed by the Mayor.  The Environmental Commission generally meets on the second Thursday of each month.

The Environmental Commission is established in accordance with Ordinance 2-11 of the Revised General Ordinances of the Borough of West Long Branch.  The Commission shall have all of the duties, responsibilities and powers as set forth in N.J.S.A. 40:56A-1 et seq.

The Environmental Commission is a "local government agency" for purposes of the Local Government Ethics Law.  The members of the Environmental Commission are not per se "local government officers" for purposes of the Law.  However, they are considered "local government employees" and are subject to the terms of the Local Government Ethics Law which govern the conduct of "local government employees", but are not subject to the requirement of filing a financial disclosure statement.
