Property Tax Deadlines:             First Quarter - February 1st

Second Quarter - May 1st

Third Quarter - August 1st

                                                      Fourth Quarter - November 1st

Tax bills are normally mailed once per year and are for four (4) quarters, i.e., 3rd and 4th quarters for the current year (Final tax bill) and 1st and 2nd quarters for the subsequent year (Preliminary tax bill).

Tax sale proceedings can start when a property is delinquent after the 11th day of the 11th month of the year for which they were due and may take place anytime thereafter. A tax sale is held annually for unpaid property taxes and other municipal charges.

Property Tax Grace Period:  The Tax Collector's Office allows for a ten (10) day grace period for the payment of taxes. Any property tax payment received after the tenth calendar day is considered late, and interest will be charged back to the first date due. The payment date is the date received in the office, NOT the postmarked date.

The delinquent interest rate is 8% on the first $1,500 and 18% on the remainder. If payment is made after the grace period, please contact the tax office for the correct amount of interest penalties due. A penalty of 6% will be charged on any delinquency of more than $10,000 if not paid by the end of the fiscal year.

Property Tax InformationIt is the property owner’s responsibility to maintain records regarding the payment of property taxes.  Tax bills will not be issued when property ownership is transferred. It is the responsibility of the property owner to be aware of tax payment amounts and due date. Individuals transferring property are requested to turn over tax information to the new owner at the time of title transfer.
