  • TAX COLLECTOR – WEST LONG BRANCH, Monmouth County. 

    Full time position, under the direction of the Finance & Administration Committee of the Borough Council, does such work as may be necessary for the proper and expedient collection of taxes.  Job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:  Prepares and mails tax bills to the various property owners in the Borough.  Serves as Tax Search Officer.  Prepares 200-foot searches in connection with Planning/Zoning Board applications.  Takes such action as may be permitted or required by statutes to collect delinquent taxes.  Prepares and files all required tax reports.  Maintains Borough’s tax records.  Receipt and deposit of all tax revenues.  Prepares list of tax liens for publication.  Facilitates Tax Sale for the Borough. Responds to the Mayor and Council as questions arise.  Provides information to the Tax Assessor relative to taxpayer appeals.  Provides information to various classes of taxpayers concerning tax exemptions or deductions as may be permitted by law.  Plans and administers the day-to-day functions of the Tax Collector’s office including the development of an operating budget.  Performs and assists with all related duties and other related duties as assigned. Hours of employment are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM-4:30PM; the Collector must be available to work during heavy collection periods, which occur during the 1st through 10th day of February, May, August, and November. Job Qualifications: Certification Required (NJ Certified Tax Collector). Experience and education sufficient to obtain certification from the State of New Jersey as a Tax Collector which certification shall be received prior to appointment.  Considerable knowledge of the statutes governing the collection of taxes in the municipalities of the State of New Jersey.  Ability to deal tactfully and cooperatively with members of the public and other municipal employees.  Ability to deal with strict time schedules in the collection of Borough taxes.  Ability and willingness to abide by the Borough’s Policy and Procedures, as well as Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy.   • RECREATIONAL DIRECTOR – WEST LONG BRANCH, Monmouth County.  Part time position, responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Field Requests: Organize and manage field permits for soccer and baseball leagues.  Develop a system for field scheduling and allocation to ensure efficient use.  Maintain communication with league organizers and address any concerns.  Gazebo Permits: Process gazebo permit applications and ensure compliance with borough regulations.  Maintain accurate records of permits issued and track usage data.  Communicate with permit holders regarding policies and procedures.  Special Events (Using West Long Branch’s current activities):  Plan, execute and mandatory attendance at various special events throughout the year, including: Easter Egg Hunt (April), Fishing Derby (June), West Long Brach Summer Rec (June – August), Summer Concerts (July), 4th of July Celebration, Lantern Walk (November), Movie Night (September), Halloween House Contest (October), Fall Festival (October), Farmers Market (seasonal), & Christmas Tree Lighting (December) as well as secure necessary permits, vendors and volunteers for each event, develop budgets and track event expenses & promote events to the community and ensure successful execution.  Community Recreation Programs: Oversee and manage ongoing community recreation programs like yoga and chair exercise classes.  Develop and implement new program offerings based on community needs and interests. Partner with local organizations and instructors to deliver programs.  Track program participation and assess program effectiveness.  Additional Responsibilities:  Communicate and collaborate with the West Long Branch Recreation Committee as well as with the Director and Deputy Director for the summer camp program, this may include evaluating and managing all Recreation Department employees, this responsibility (subject to approval of the Borough Council & Business Administrator) to hire and fire Recreation Department employees.  Maintain and update event and program calendars on the website and social media.  Develop marketing materials and promotional campaigns for events and programs.  Manage and maintain recreation department equipment and supplies, complete requisitions for department expenditure of funds.  Communicate and collaborate with other departments and organizations to provide recreation opportunities.  Stay informed about trends and best practices in the field of recreation.  Prepare reports and track data on program participation and event attendance.  Identify and secure funding opportunities for recreation programs and events.  Complete other assignments and tasks that are requested for recreational matters.  Job Qualifications: ability to read and write English, ability to follow direction, both oral and written, possess excellent communication skills, ability host and staff events continuously under varying weather conditions, a valid New Jersey Driver’s License, ability and willingness to abide by the Borough’s Policy and Procedures, as well as Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy.   • LABORER– DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS – WEST LONG BRANCH BOROUGH, Monmouth County. Full time position. Responsibilities include but are not limited to manual work in the maintenance of borough streets, roadways, parks, public buildings, and public places, handling heavy materials on construction, maintenance and repair projects, raking leaves from public streets and parks, sweeping materials to predetermined grade for street surface repairs, shoveling snow and removing ice and snow from pavement, assisting in spreading sand and chemicals for control of ice and snow conditions, recycling and solid waste collection and performing all related work as required. Job Qualifications: ability to read and write English, ability to follow direction, both oral and written, ability to lift heavy objects continuously under varying weather conditions, a valid New Jersey Driver’s License, ability to drive a truck, possession of a valid State of New Jersey Commercial Driver’s License and willingness to abide by the Borough’s CDL Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy.
