Councilman James P Gomez grew up in Huntington Station NY and Woodcliff Lake, NJ.  Jim graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology in 1987 with an Associates of Science: Computer Science.

Jim moved to Long Branch when he was hired as a Patrolman at Monmouth College in 1989.  He moved to West Long Branch in 1991 and became a West Long Branch Police Officer in 1994.  Jim retired from the West Long Branch Police Department in 2021 having reached the rank of Lieutenant.

Jim joined the West Long Branch First Aid Squad in 1996 serving as Captain in 1999 and is currently an auxiliary member with the Squad.  Jim served several years on the Board of the West Long Branch Sports Association and coached youth baseball and soccer.  

Jim currently works as the School Security Officer for the Wolf Hill School in Oceanport, and is a fast/slow pitch softball umpire for several organizations in Monmouth County. 

Jim lives on Broadway and has two adult children, Kristen, her husband Anthony, and James.  

Jim serves as Chairperson of the Fire and First Aid Committee, and serves on the Public Works, Environmental/Shade Tree/Recreation, and SRHS Liaison Committee.
